DYSTOPIA

Dystopia represents an imagined society defined by suffering, oppression, and extreme injustice—the stark opposite of a utopia. Often portrayed in literature, film, and art, dystopian worlds serve as cautionary reflections on authoritarianism, environmental collapse, technological overreach, and societal downfall. These narratives challenge us to confront the darker possibilities of our future and question the systems that shape our present.

For this project, I had the pleasure of collaborating with creative director Jahnavi Sharma and set designer Marina Aleksashina to bring a dystopian vision to life, crafting a world that immerses viewers in its unsettling reality. At the heart of this imagery is a bold red dress—a striking symbol of defiance and power amidst a fragmented, obstructed space. The white background, layered with torn and overlapping pieces of paper, adds a sense of distortion and imperfection. The contrast between the vivid dress and the disrupted setting enhances the tension within the scene, representing both resilience and the struggle for individuality in a world marked by uncertainty and control.
